Looking after your Dress from PromgownsRUs

We have put together these notes to help you get the most out of your quality prom
gown from Prom Gowns R Us.

Upon receiving your gown, unpack as soon as possible and hang in a warm room to allow creases to drop. A steamy bathroom is a good place to do this, taking care not to allow the gown to get wet.

Follow the care label. Most garments can be lightly pressed inside out using a press cloth and a cool iron. If in doubt your local dry cleaner should offer a pressing/steaming service. Do NOT iron taffeta as it will mark. Never iron a gown on the front side. Do not use direct steam on garments with beadwork or decoration and always test on an inconspicuous area first.

Many garments are intricately hand embellished. Such garments should be treated with great care at all times. Loose beads and sequins are inevitable even on new items and should be secured immediately where noticed to prevent further bead loss. Some sequins and beads are specially dyed to give the exquisite effects designed, this particular process can result in slight fading of the intensity of colour when cleaned. Special care should be taken to follow recommendations for cleaning to prevent deterioration of the beauty of embellished garments -always use a dry cleaner experienced with these types of garments.

Any stains should be removed as soon as possible - most gowns are dry clean or spot clean only and you should consult a reputable dry cleaner.

Use of a garment cover will extend the life of your dress and keep it looking its best.

Heavy gowns are best stored flat as storing long-term on a hanger will cause them to lose shape, stretch and drop.

Alterations are a necessary part of a perfect fit with special occasion wear - you should consult a reputable seamstress regarding alterations but we are happy to assist with queries prior to purchase.
